I love Ed McGuinness' Captain Marvel covers. He has a fresh take on the character, but his covers also have a strong retro feel.
"Issue 1" is written at the top -- I think at one point this was considered for the cover of that issue.

Fantastic cover! I feel like I saw this piece used for promo or ads before the series came out.
