Description

This one has a special story: As a teenager and aspiring comic artist, I tried to emulate Gene Colan's style every chance I got. I "adapted" Daredevil #82 panel-for-panel for one of my own comics, changing the characters, costumes and dialog.. but still keeping Gene's "style". (Okay, okay - I practically lifted the whole darn thing!)
At San Diego Comicon 2005, I "challenged" Gene. You see, Gil Kane's cover for that issue was okay - but I wanted to see what Gene would have done had he been given the chance. So I asked him for *his* interpretation. (Notice I don't call it a "recreation" - because this is Gene's own version of this cover.) No disrespect intended for the late, great Mr. Kane, but I definitely prefer Gene's version!
