Description
There have been few comic artists who were masters at drawing women. With all do respect to Frank Frazetta (who was brilliant), I feel that Dave Stevens was in a class all by himself. His women were powerful and natural looking. He would make them appear soft and vulnerable or hard and threatening without sacrificing their beauty.

A friend had bought this piece from the Stevens estate. He presented it during a Wonder Con and when I first saw it my heart skipped a beat . I never had such a reaction to a piece of art. At that time he wasn't selling. A year later he decided to let it go but I couldn't afford what he was asking. Eventually he put it up for auction. I bid on it without allowing myself the hope that I could ever win. I won.

Later I found out that the auction house forgot to add a reserve. Had they remembered I wouldn't have won this piece.

This art is with the right person. No one will ever love it more than I.

The existing frame covers the Aurora title at the top so if you want to see the complete work it was published in "Dave Stevens Complete Sketches & Studies" page 67 and then later published again in "Dave Stevens Covers & Stories" page 186.

P.S. The image I use as my Avatar is the same as when I first joined CAFs in 2010.

I think it would have made Dave happy to know that someone who loved his work got a piece that means so much to them...

Congrats! A very nice piece. If you can't get a Rocketeer from Dave, you get a girl .... or is it vice versa?! :)

This is quite a prize! I had the honor of meeting Stevens at Dragoncon back in '99 and he was such a gentleman. Although he wasn't doing sketches, he graciously personalized my copy of "The Life and Times of Bettie Page." Certainly "Link" would have been my top character of choice;)

It was no accident they forgot to add the reserve price, it was fate!  You were meant to own this.  It is beautiful.
