After having worked as a commercial artist, George Wildman (born 1927) entered the comics field in 1969, when he joined Charlton Comics. Since then he has illustrated over ninety comic and childrens books featuring Popeye. Wildman left Charlton in 1984 and went on to draw many freelance cartoon projects for Random House. He also did artwork for Marvel, Western Publishing, Scholastic Entertainment, Henson, Time/Warner (‘Animaniacs’) and the Disney Studios (stories with Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Darkwing Duck).
