For all you boyhood Scorcher and Roy of the Rovers fans out there (surely there must be some?) I thought it was time to scan and show the Jimmy of City artwork I managed to persuade the great Barrie Mitchell to part with. Barrie drew the Jack of United (see other Gallery) and Jimmy of City storylines in Score and Scorcher & Score for many years, originally working at Link Studios which were based at Charterhouse St in London. Always my favourite comic strip, I was really thrilled to capture these pages which were originally published in the Score annual in 1977 and then reprinted for the Roy of the Rovers Annual in 1990. Having the whole story is a real treat, especially given the scarcity of this particular strip. Almost all of the geat Scorcher and Score artwork from back in the day was destroyed and whilst there might be some with private collectors or individuals connected with the publications of the time, obtaining it VERY difficult. So if you come across any more of this stuff, or any Bobby of the Blues (Tony Harding) Nipper Lawrence (Solano) etc I really would love to purchase them from you. I am especially grateful to Barrie for letting these go. I remember the storyline very well and I hope for those of you out there that love the strip and the way that Barrie brought football to life on the page, it brings back equally brilliant memories!
