Lex Luthor: Man of Steel
I became enamored with Lee's storytelling and style on earlier works like Superman/Gen 13. So pairing him with my favorite writer, Brian Azzarello, on a story about the marquee villain of my favorite character was music to my ears.
But nothing could have prepared me for the amazing leap his art took on this series. The tonal shading he employed on these pages have become his signature look, and proven to be the perfect style for the more grounded, realistic take he and Azzarello have employed in stories like this and Joker.
Topping it all off, the story itself is a fascinating look into Lex Luthor's mindset. It creates an understanding of his world view that is easy to relate to, and much more engaging than the more simplistic motivations that usually surround the character.
