Val Mayerik
In 1974 I had the rare chance to apprentice under the extremely talented Val Mayerik. It was the opportunity for a hungry college student to watch and learn from one of the Comic Industries unsung heroes. I learned more from watching how a professional worked in one night than I had in 2 years of art school in college. Things I still practice and work on today are because of what I learned in the months that followed. My career in the industry and the level of professionalism I have, I can honestly state, I learned from my friend and Mentor, Val Mayerik.
