The art in this room is from John Byrne's early days before he became a legend as a comic book artist/story teller. John Byrne: "Most of these drawing were done when I still didn't have a clue, of course. The inking is all Rapidograph pen, for instance. Notice the labor-intensive filling in of large black areas! No quick swipes of a brush, there! In fact, when I started at the Alberta College of Art, a few years after most of these drawings were done, I was utterly bewildered when the drawing instructor started talking about using brushes. Come on! You PAINT with a brush, you DRAW with a pen!!" Gay Guy & Hard Hat were done by JB during his collage years.
