I have a fairly large collection of comic strip original art pieces. They come in so many formats and sizes and this always proved to be a storage and preservation challenge. A few years ago I had a number of custom mylars made for my art and they were fantastic. Over the years I have ran out of bags and the need to order new bags came up. I have recently done this. Rather than order just what I needed I ordered more because I have had many people ask me about the bags. I have enough that I am prepared to sell some. There is a limited quantity that I am willing to sell and when those are gone I do not plan on reordering more.
The bags are made of 4mL polyester. This is the same as Mylar which is just a brand name for a polyester product. The bags are made of material certified by the Library of Congress for archival use.
They are 24 inches long and 8 inches tall and have the opening on the top. I usually store 2 pieces of art in each bag, one facing each way. They stack very nicely and also can be stored upright to flip through easily. The size I chose to get made fit over 95% of the comic strips from 1900 to current day sizing. The most notable and common exceptions to this sizing are the Tailspin Tommy dailies, Alex Raymond X9 and early Etta Kitts.
The price on the bags are $5 each and sold in lots of 10 or 25. $50 for 10 bags, $125 for 25 bags.
Shipping is $25 to $30 for anywhere in North America for the smaller size. Europe will be about $40 for shipping due to the size and weight of the package. If you are a European collector and want bags, I'd suggest a larger order so that the shipping costs per bag are reduced.
