Christmas Card 2014: Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman
This year's card started back in 2012, when after I was gifted by some of my commissioning buddies with a Gerardo Borges commission as a birthday present.
I was so impressed, I asked Geraldo if he would consider doing a Christmas Card based on a classic Comic Cavalcade cover he agreed and did a prelim.
Some time passed and I got my first preview of what this would look like as Geraldo sent me the partially completed bottom half of the commission.
Finally, the finished piece arrived and as imagined it was simply stunning, as Geraldo improved on the original 40s cover.
With art finally in the house, it stayed here for about 48 hours before being shipped off to Doug Hazelwood, who not only did an amazing inking job and a few minor art corrections I asked for in Flash fast time. It was a delight to work with Doug. If you need an inker and Doug can fit you into your schedule, I'd highly recommend him!
Now for the final stage, coloring the work for the printer to make this year's card. Glenn Whitmore had done an outstanding job coloring my Jerry Ordway JSA meets the JLA commission earlier in the year, so I reached out and asked Glenn if he would be willing to color this year's holiday project.
Glenn did not disappoint, he captured the look I wanted perfectly and did it quickly, again like Doug Hazelwood I would happily recommend him for coloring your commission.
With that, you have the back story on this year's Christmas card that started back in July of 2012 and ended up in 100 mailboxes this year.
