Gregory d'Alessio (1905-1993) was a longtime cartoonist for the New Yorker, Esquire, Collier's and many more publications. d'Alessio had left-of-center leanings and did work for some of the left wing publications of the day, as well as helping to start the cartoonists' union in the 1930s. d'Alessio was also the husband of longtime cartoonist Hilda Terry. These pieces are all from a 1938 Macy's advertising campaign, and are drawn in pencil and either ink wash or gray watercolor.
