Christmas 2015; All Star Squadron Assembled by Rick Hoberg

As has become the holiday tradition, my wife now simply asks what art do you want for Christmas?

What indeed,I had several ideas and then one evening I was on Facebook visiting Rick Hoberg's page and saw something that stopped me in my tracks.

Rick was showcasing a recreation of page 11 from All Star Squadron 31, you remember that glorious four page depiction of just about every DC, All American and Quality hero.

I had the thought, well if Rick would recreate one page would he consider doing all four?

Rick and I corresponded and he agreed to do it.

We talked about several changes, most notably I asked Rick to add Black Canary to the work, since she is my wife's favorite character.

Rick had the thought of adding Liberty Belle to the piece since in the original story- line she is on the ground floor addressing the Squadron.

I also asked Rick to change Doctor Fate's helmet to the original full mask and lastly I asked for Rick to change the coloring on Speedy's hair to red, in the original published piece for some reason it was colored blond. Interestingly when I researched Speedy's cap I discovered the feather is colored green and yellow indiscriminately, so we stayed with the orignal green feather coloring.

A bit before the holidays Rick emailed me and let me know while pages 11 and 12 were done, he would not be able to finish pages 13 and 14 before the holidays so he wanted to get half the commission to me so there would be something for the adorable one to put under the tree.

Imagine my surprise when I opened the gift and discovered that Rick generously gave me the pencils to pages 13 and 14 which you can see in separate galleries.

In early January the rest of the commission arrived and I am so proud of this commission.
