Monotypes

A monotype is an image created by painting on a flat surface (a plate), usually with oil based paints, and laying a sheet of paper on top of the plate and applying pressure either by hand or with a press to create a print. Unlike other forms of printmaking, only one original print can be made. Sometimes one can pull (print) a ghost image, which is usually a faded impression of the original. I had a show of monotypes at Gallery AD in November of 2015. It featured 45 prints made between June and November of that year. Many of the works are available.
