Ancient Persia

In 1950 my grandfather bought me a copy of 4C #275 "Ancient Persia" at the newstand. In 1976, I was able to score Carl's first oil painting of the cover of this comic. It took about 40% MORE than the current market value of the painting itself. That's the difference of being a collector, and not a dealer. I still have the painting. Years later, I came into contact with a California painter who had worked at some art shows with Carl and Gare Barks. He became friends with Carl, and in turn Carl gave him several items (including a non-Disney oil painting from 1970). On his wall was this ink artwork of the cover of "Ancient Persia". He quoted a price, and I accepted. No negotiations. I've also acquired an autographed photo of Carl reading the comic book, and an autographed copy of the comic book. In addition, I've got full-sized professional photographs of 2 other oil paintings: Red Persia (#71-27) and Blue Persia (#73-1).
