Jim LEE changed the house style on the industry
Anyone who grew up in the early 90s acknowledged three kings on a pedestal - Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld, and Jim Lee. Todd was my favorite, with upstart Liefeld in second. Lee was only in third because he was like rooting for Michael Jordan. His stuff was on another level. It was TOO damn good. It was a no-brainer that you loved his art 🙂
