Glackens, William
William Glackens (1870-1938) was the younger brother of Louis Glackens, the noted Puck and Judge artist at the turn of the century. The younger Glackens followed his older brother into the cartooning and illustration field, but his interest eventually turned towards painting. Williams Glackens was good friends with the American painter Robert Henri, and besides sharing a studio, they traveled to Europe during the early part of the 20th century. After arriving back to the States, Glackens and Henri became founding "members" of The Eight, and were quite influential on the Ashcan School of art.
