Possible fakes - Be cautious.
Over the past couple months I have been noticing what I believe to be possible fakes popping up on eBay. Some seem to be photocopies that are inked over while others seem like obvious tracings. See for yourself. If any are proven to be genuine I will apologize and take down my posting. While fakes have been around for a long time, recently there has been an uptick in black and white fakes. I am hoping others will come forward with their experiences and post the offending pieces.
I was a victim myself once. I bought a Romita Jr Spiderman inked sketch piece. When I got it in hand, I noticed there was a faint printing of a sketch and over it the seller or someone else before him inked over it. I contacted the seller and returned it for a refund - minus the shipping cost.
I just hope buyers inspect pieces a lot more closely and not get a piece based on the words of a seller only. Also, do some homework as to how the artists early work really looked like. Each artist has a style of their own and after a while their work speak for themselves.
