Walter Lambert (1897-1986) was an accomplished portrait painter who worked in advertising and magazine illustration. He is best known for his Leyland Ladies, a series of calendars that featured female employees of Leyland Motors. Lambert painted these from their start in the early 1930s until he was replaced in the late 1960s. Around that time he painted covers for the British girls' weekly Princess Tina and its annuals.
