Harrison Cady (1877-1970) is most well known for his Peter Rabbit comic strip, but he was a prolific illustrator, working in magazines and books for 70 years. Cady met with early success in the pages of St. Nicholas magazine, illustrating Carolyn Wells' "Happy Chaps" feature for many years. In 1908, a book of Wells' verses and Cady's drawings was published. Cady specialized in drawing animals and bugs, incorporating his gentle line style that allowed for light texture and a children's book approach to the drawing. The Boston Daily Globe dubbed him as "...the man who dreams bugs...”
