Art Young (1866-1943) was one of the truly great cartoonists of the early part of the 20th century. Known for his biting editorial cartoons, especially those aimed at Capitalism, Young did some of his most powerful work for the left-wing magazine, The Masses, from 1911 to 1917. Young also drew work for the The Leader, The Nation, and The New Masses. Additionally, Young drew for many mainstream publications, such as The New Yorker, Collier's, and the Saturday Evening Post. Young employed a heavy line-style in his work which resulted in woodcut-look in the drawings. That approach gave Young's work a graphic pop which served him well for decades.
