Wizards

Wizards is a 1977 American animated post-apocalyptic science fantasy film written, directed and produced by Ralph Bakshi (Bakshi Productions) and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film follows a battle between two wizards of opposing powers, one representing the forces of magic and the other representing the forces of industrial technology.

Avatar defends a world of color and peace where fairies and mythical creatures are common. Blackwolf leads an army of mutants and demons inspired by Nazi propaganda.

I absolutely love this film.

Bakshi is probably best remembered for his animated classic Lord of the Rings and Cool World as well as his commitment to rotoscope technology.

As an interesting side note, Wizards was released the same year as Star Wars and also contained Mark Hamill's first film appearance as a voice over artist.
