There are a handful of comic books that left an impression on me from when I was a kid, among them the "Dial H for Hero" stories in House of Mystery. Robby Reed wasn't exposed to cosmic rays or bitten by a radioactive spider, he was just a kid - albeit a very smart kid - who found a dial that enabled him to turn into all sorts of superheroes. How cool is that?
