Witkin, Jerome
Jerome Witkin (b.1939) is a noted American figurative painter, specializing in a combination of realism and expressionism that is often based in narrative. Witkin is the twin brother of the photographer Joel Peter Witkin and the son of photographer Christian Witkin. Recent paintings and drawings by Witkin can be seen at his gallery's website
The four pen & ink illustrations in this gallery appeared as chapter header illustration in The American Heritage History of Flight, published in 1962. I was just recently able to have the pieces signed by Witkin, hence the 2020 date on the artwork.
