PROPOSITION PLAYER - A great story by Bill Willingham that is kinda a precursor to his popular Fables series. Tells the story of Joey Martin who starts buying souls from atheists in exchange for a beer. As he gains souls, he starts to get noticed by existing players, such as Hell Mary and Archangel Michael. He teams up with Odin's ravens, Hell Mary, Moloch, and Anubis and eventually acquires more souls than any of the gods, becoming God with a capital G. This might be my favorite indy comic of all time. I have the pencil/inked versions of these pages, but have posted the color versions. Purchased directly from the artist Paul Guinan. Paul assures me that this is the largest Proposition Player Art Library in the world. Wiki description: Proposition player Joseph Francis Martin of the Thunder Road Casino is a two-timing jerk who doesn’t know when he’s well off. Thanks to a bet, he purchased thirty-two souls for the price of one beer each. The only problem is, souls are getting more valuable. Enter Bill, an angel claiming to be from Heaven, and Mary, from the other side of the tracks. Both are limited in what they can do, but what they want are the soul contracts Joey is keeping. Joey’s sometime girlfriend Lacy wavers between trusting him or beating his face in, but now she’s being pulled into the conflict and who knows who will win in the end.
