Wood, Wally

I became a Wally Wood devotee when I was just 13 years old. The first Wally Wood cover i ever saw was at a comic convention in Houston TX - Weird Science #16 caught my eye up on a dealer's rack and i asked to see it. When I held that copy of Weird Science #16 in my hands I marveled at it and fell in love with the lush and suspenseful science fiction image i saw. I saw that it was signed by an artist named WOOD in his distinctive flourish. I decided right then and there that WOOD was my new favorite artist. I became a huge Wally Wood fan in that moment, and I remain one to this day. Wood was monumental! As a comic artist, he was the whole package and one of the architects of the artform. His stylish and evocative work still takes my breath away. Thanks, Woody, for taking me to other worlds and other times!
