Like many my age, the John Wesley Shipp tv show hooked me on the Flash, which in turn led me to Flash comics. Soon after, Mark Waid took over writing chores for the Scarlet Speedster and later launched Impulse, where I was introduced to the work of the fabulous Humberto Ramos. Together, those two elevated those first two years of Impulse into one of my favorite reads as a teenager.
