My Velvet Little Darkness
My Velvet Little Darkness is a fan comic based on Topcow's Artifacts Universe. At the end of the Darkness and Witchblade storylines, Jackie and Sara had a child named Hope. Sara killed Jackie, and Sara broke her bond with the Witchblade. But where did that leave Hope? Her story was never quite brought to a conclusion. So with those events in mind, we launched our fan story revolving around Hope. The idea was Claudio Sepulveda's. He is the artist on the book. He helped brainstorm plots, create characters, and did all of the art, coloring, and lettering. I wrote the story and dialogue. Together, we made 4, 32 page issues. The entirety of the comic is available to read for free one the "My Velvet Little Darkness" facebook page. We also contributed a 10 page prequel that was printed in "Darkest Image," a fan made collection of stories that was sold with all proceeds going to charity. We definitely have more story to tell, but time will tell if we have time to get to it. In the meantime, this gallery has some concept art for characters that would come to be seen in the future of our story were it to continue. This was a labor of love for Claudio and I. I shared the book with David Hine, and got some pretty fantastic feedback. If nothing else, we made a book that I think we are both really proud of. If you have the time, feel free to read it.
