Andrea Ventura
Artista milanese trapiantato a New York dove i suoi ritratti in poco tempo hanno catturato l’attenzione di critica e pubblico tanto da essere tra i più richiesti per le copertine delle più prestigiose riviste americane ed europee. Andrea Ventura è un illustratore di straordinario successo negli Stati Uniti dove ha risieduto per vent’anni. Ha creato immagini per le copertine dei maggiori periodici americani e ha vinto la prestigiosa medaglia d’oro della American Society of Illustrators. Parallelamente, ha perseguito una ricerca importante, anche se meno conosciuta, nel campo dell’arte, traendo spunto sul piano iconografico dal suo lavoro di illustratore e concentrandosi solo su alcuni temi scandagliando a fondo i suoi sentimenti e le sue memorie personali. Il suo vagabondaggio lo ha ora portato a Berlino ma Andrea Ventura ha le radici umane ed artistiche saldamente ancorate in Italia. Dotato di una naturale inclinazione all’espressione pittorica, il suo linguaggio è lirico nelle immagini e totalmente libero e spontaneo nel gesto. Andrea Ventura attraverso uno stile intenso con riferimenti alla pop art ha reso i protagonisti del cinema, della letteratura e della musica, ma anche della scienza e della politica, delle icone perfettamente calate nell’ordinario dando spazio alle loro espressioni. Nei ritratti mira a far emergere quella forza espressiva grazie ad un tratto deciso e ad una scelta particolare di alcune tonalità di grigio, verde e azzurri che accostati in modo diverso danno ai soggetti una particolare intensità nello sguardo e nella posa, spesso vigorosa e statuaria.
