Belén Ortega is best known for her recent work Trinity, Batman: Urban Legends and Batman. In 2024, she was nominated for Eisner Award in the Best Short Story category for her work on the Wonder Woman series. With a Fine Arts degree from the University of Granada, she received a scholarship to study in Japan. She made her professional debut in 2010 with the award-winning manga Himawari. This whas followed by her BD Pájaro Indiano, the motorcycling champion biography Marc Márquez: La Historia de un Sueño, and Dupuis’ bestselling comic Millenium Saga. In 2019, Belén made her debut with Marvel Comics, contributing as both a cover and interior artist on Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, and more. Shortly after, in 2021, she began collaborating with DC Comics as an artist on Batman: Urban Legends (featuring the DC Pride Tim Drake Special, where Robin reveals his bisexuality), and other Batman Universe books including Punchline (The Joker) and back-up Catwoman stories inside the flagship Batman title. Belén’s most recent works in the American market include contributions to Batman #136, the anthology Batman: The Brave and the Bold #4, and the new Wonder Woman series, where she illustrated backup stories focusing on Trinity. She also contributed a Wonder Woman story for DC’s Tales from Earth-6: A Celebration of Stan Lee. Her latest projects for Europe, include volumes 1 and 2 of Patriarchy, published by Editions Caurette. Currently, she is working on the new volume of Patriarchy, and continues collaborating as a cover artits for different publishers, such as Marvel.
