Leo Duranona
Leopoldo Duranona (1938 – 2016) Buenos Aires, Argentina. Education: School of Art at the University of Argentina. Leopoldo Duranona became one of the most successful illustrators in Buenos Aires where he worked for several magazines. Around the age of 30, looking for a challenge, he moved to New York. In New York, Duranona illustrated comic books for DC Comics, Marvel and the edgy Warren Comics however; this only allowed him time to paint between jobs. Leopoldo then moved to Los Angeles where he became well known as a storyboard artist, illustrating and creating characters for such companies as Hanna Barbara, Disney, Universal and Steven Spielberg. Still yearning to paint for himself, Leopoldo then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2002 to concentrate solely on his own work. He passed from this world on February 22, 2016. He considered himself a very lucky person, being able to earn his life doing what he loved. "My world is expressed in my paintings. My characters, my landscapes, the visions which pass through my mind, the way I see the world. I am enclosed in this world between line and color. These are my joys, my prison, my loves".
