Liliane and Fred Funcken have been producing comics since the 1950's, mostly for the Belgian weekly Tintin. They concentrated on true stories from history and adventure comics, also set in a historical setting, such as Jack Diamond , Chevalier Blanc 'White Knight' (middle ages), Le Capitan 'The Captain' (musketeers), Doc Silver (western) and Harald the Viking. They held a special interest in historical dress and costume, and they published beautifully illustrated books about the subject. When you look at the art you can see the special care taken of the costumes.
