César Spadari artworks by The Phantom
An original art gallery by Argentine cartoonist César Spadari (1938-2020). He began working at a very young age, having his first success at 23 when he won a contest for a daily strip in the newspaper "Critica" in 1963. He then worked at Hector German Oesterheld's Frontera publishing house, where he worked with greats such as Hugo Pratt, Solano Lopez, Del Castillo, etc. He was hired by Francisco Brugera and traveled to Barcelona, Spain to work for Brugera, where he illustrated works with scripts by Victor Mora. He returned to Argentina where, alongside his work as a cartoonist for European publications, he worked as a cartoonist agent, managing an agency of up to 30 artists. Starting in 1987, he began drawing Phantom for the publishing house Semic, then Egmont, a task he carried out for more than 30 years and 93 episodes. Her work is highly recognized by fans, having been published in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Australia, Brazil, Italy, Yugoslavia, Latvia, and Russia, among others. She has also won the fan-voted award for best story and cover of the year on several occasions. In 2024, a book in her famous saga, "Kate Sommerset The Pirate Queen," was published in a 359-page hardcover by Egmont.
