Ultimates #9 (MARVEL)

This gallery features original artwork from THE ULTIMATES #9 (Marvel), including key pages from the debut of ULTIMATE LUKE CAGE! These pages represent pivotal moments in the series as Chris was requested by the writer (Deniz Camp) to draw this specific issue. Anecdotally, Chris was sent the original character design for Ultimate Luke, but- after reading the script- he found that the design didn't match the story the writer was trying to tell and sent over a design that was more closely aligned with the story of a revolutionary held in captivity and discovering his power. When Deniz and the editorial team saw the design they enthusiastically approved the change- Deniz liking it so much that he declared on line that Chris had a hand in the writing of the story (a sentiment that Chris appreciates, but respectfully does not share). Included here are individual story pages offering a look at the amount of care and detail that is placed in every page, every panel that Chris draws. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind piece of original artwork used in the creation of a published comic.
