Butch and I received an offer to create 48 pages of storyboards for the proposed sci-fi film project “Copperhead” by the great horror director George A. Romero in the early 1980s. I convinced Butch to take time off from his comic work to work on designing the look of the movie with me. But, after months of painstaking work, Romero cancelled the project when he failed to raise the funding for the epic film. For all of you, those 48 pages represented some of Butch’s greatest work that you might never see...until now! “Butcherhead” (as I lovingly nicknamed him) remained a steadfast friend and the creator of some of the most amazing illustrations in comics to this day.
