Mike Wieringo Tribute
Aside from being an incredibly nice guy, with a twisted sense of humor and a great BIG laugh, Wieringo was one of the better (and another of the under-appreciated) artist in comics. I will miss him on many levels. This story appeared in Gotham Knights 24 in February 2002. When I bought the pages from Mike, he told me that this was Todd DeZago's and his tribute to Will Eisner. Batman was not the major character, and most of the time only a tip of his cape appeared in the story. It focused on two guys... one who happened to get a photo of Batman, and a reporter who wanted to publish the picture. The story was inked by the always capable Karl Story. I remember Mike complaining that Karl got all of the good pages... and he was nice enough to sell me those pages to complete the story. In this story, Mike shows off his story-telling ability, his incredible range of expressions, and basically plays in the Eisner style.
