Japanese Animation

In the late 80s, I was really interested in Japanese animation. At that time it was difficult and expensive to find anime. The affordable solution was to buy bootleg copies from dealers at local shows. One day I visited a local Japanese Video store a friend mentioned his parents liked, they didn't have much in terms of anime, but they did rent current shows airing in Japan, like soap operas and live action shows, but not cartoons. After a bit of pestering, they agreed to record on VHS tapes shows such as Orange Road and ZZ Gundam as long as I agreed to buy them. I don't watch the stuff anymore, but I did keep most of the drawings I picked up the from different shows. The extra cool part about watching these shows was it included the commercials. It was so funny seeing film favorites like Arnold Schwartzenegger selling ham and cookies.
