In my opinion John Romita Jr's Punisher is the definitive take on the character. It's a shame he only did the one story arc in PWZ, the Batman one-shot, and a handful of covers. There's a great anecdote JRJR shared in an interview, apparently he based his version of the Punisher in part on John Buscema's Conan and when Buscema had to pencil the Punisher he in turn based his version on JRJR's art! Several of these pieces were featured in the Two-Morrows JRJR book: Modern Masters Volume 18, John Romita Jr.
