G.I. Joe Filecards

Last summer I decided I wanted a cool, unique, sketch theme. I always liked the concept of the filecard information on the backs of the 1980's G.I. Joe cards, and saved many from those days. I was looking through some of the stuff I saved and a new sketch theme came to me - I could have various artists draw file card photos! I decided to scan one in, remove the picture, clean it up, increase the size, and I had a template. From there, I proceeded to hunt down the text for over 50 Joes and typed it all in. Then I had them laser printed on artist board. The process worked great! I started collecting the sketches in August of 2007. I've collected a dozen so far and have waiting for a few artists to complete a few more. Most artists have been very receptive to the idea, although I'm sure they think I'm a bit eccentric. I've already started the process for a few other similar themes...DC Who's Who, Marvel Universe, Star Wars, and Transformers... though I'm not sure if I'll undertake actually finishing them and getting sketches for any or all of them as yet...
