Animation's RONNIE del CARMEN & ENRICO CASAROSA

      Starting in 2002, Ronnie del Carmen and Enrico Casarosa set up at San Diego Comic Con to promote their self-published comics Paper Biscuit and The Adventures of Mia respectively. In 2003, they debuted their Fragments, a color art book. With the addition of their friend Japanese illustrator Tadahiro Uesugi, the duo became a trio for the book and Gallery Nucleus exhibition Three Trees Make a Forest. With fellow artist Dice Tsutsumi and Yukino Pang of the Asian Art Museum, they worked on the Totoro Forest Project, an art creation, auction, and Cartoon Art Museum exhibition to buy forest land in Japan to honor Hayao Miyazaki.
      Ronnie works primarily in animation starting on Bruce Timm's Batman staff and spending some time at DreamWorks. Moving to Pixar, he was co-director of Pete Docter's Oscar-winner Inside Out, story supervisor for Oscar-winner Andrew Stanton's Finding Nemo and Pete Docter's Up. Ronnie contributed story work for Oscar-winner Brad Bird's Ratatouille and was art director for the Oscar-nominated short One Man Band by co-directors Mark Andrews and Andrew Jimenez. For DC Comics, he drew a chapter in the Batman Adventures #1 Holiday Special and "The Bet" for Batman Gotham Knights #14. For Dark Horse, he illustrated writer Henry Gilroy stories Alien: Mondo Pest and Alien: Mondo Heat. Ronnie has added several sequels to Paper Biscuit telling further stories of Nina.       Enrico Casarosa is a story artist and director at Pixar Animation Studios. You can see his contributions in The Art of Ratatouille, in particular, the lightning gag. More of his contributions appear in The Art of Wall-E and The Art of Up. Enrico has published his solo Fragments Intermezzo and 2 volumes of Sketchcrawling. Sketch crawl is a drawing marathon for artists to meet up and spend the day drawing in their various locales. In 2008, adhouse books published Enrico's Venice Chronicles which received an Eisner Award nomination. He is deep at work as a story supervisor for an upcoming Pixar feature.
      At the Alameda County Library where I work, we have Three Trees Make a Forest, The Venice Chronicles, Up: My Name is Dug, and Sketchtravel available for circulation. Any library patron with LINK+ may also borrow these books.
