Comès, Didier

Dieter Comès was born in 1942 to Sourbrodt (France), small village of the east cantons. His father speaking German and his mother Walloon and French, he defines himself as being a "illegitimate child of two cultures", characteristic which we shall find in his imagination. By going out of the school at the age of 16, he will be a draughtsman in a textile company of Verviers. At the same time, he learns about the music. He is especially interested in the jazz, venturing on the percussions, and will come to the comic strip only later. In 1969, he writes "Hermann", a series of funny jokes was published in pages "Evening Youth". In 1973, the magazine "Pilote" publishes the first episode of "Ergun l'errant", "Le Dieu vivant", among which the second episode, "Le Maître des Ténèbres", will appear only in 1980 at Casterman. In 1975, the one that we already consider as the spiritual son of Hugo Pratt, realizes "L'Ombre du Corbeau". “Iris” was realized in 1991.
