Conan was the comic book that got me back to reading comics. The first issue that I picked up off the rack was #131. It was December 1981 and I had just gotten a bit of money for my birthday so I walked down to the local grocery store to see what I could find that would be fun to collect. Given that I loved Dungeons and Dragons, I was looking for something with that same sort of flavor. I looked at Arak Son of Thunder, Warlord, and Conan and chose Conan. After taking home the book and reading it, I knew I made the right choice.
Because comics were numbered, they were great to collect. I kept buying Conan month after month. #133 was the next issue that made a strong impresssion on me. The sequence with the suitors trying to scale the giant glass tower horrified me. As the months went by, I started expanding my collecting a bit, looking at other titles on the rack and then beginning to search out back issues.
This gallery showcases the great pages I've been able to find over the years from my favorite Conan books. If you have any pages from Conan #131 or 133 that you would be willing to part with, please drop me a line.
