Macherot, Raymond
Né à Verviers (Belge). Scénariste-Dessinateur. C'est pour des raisons alimentaires que ce peintre en herbe est obligé de fournir des illustrations au journal Pan. Engagé dans la Royal Navy en 1945 sur un dragueur de mines, Macherot devient peintre naïf et journaliste. Il débute en bande dessinée dans Pan en 1948, puis dans Tintin en 1953, y créant la série animalière Chlorophylle, mais aussi les enquêtes du colonel Clifton. Ensuite, il passe chez Spirou, où il anime la série Sibylline et dessine en 1964 un unique épisode de Chaminou. Scénariste, il travaille avec Delporte, Franquin et Will pour les premiers épisodes d’Isabelle, tandis que, comme dessinateur, il illustre Pantoufle sur un scénario de Goscinny, puis Mirliton avec Cauvin. Le Belge Raymond Macherot, figure de la bande dessinée d'après-guerre et père de célèbres séries animalières, est mort dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi à l'âge de 84 ans, ont annoncé ses éditeurs historiques, Le Lombard et Dupuis.
