Peter Caras is an illusrtator of over 1700 book and cover illustrations. He was mentored by Norman Rockwell and James Bama. This painting is titled Gunfighter, but that may just be what the previous owner called it. I'm interested in knowing if it was used in print. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate hearing about it! And yes, the model for this is without a doubt Steve Holland, famous for posing for James Bama's Doc Savage.
