Q&A with Matthew Robinson
| Q: | Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why? |
| A: | Possibly my Cockrum pages. I'm not sure I've settled on a favorite yet. I like them all for a myriad of different reasons. I'll give it some more thought and edit this at a later date. |
| Q: | Please tell us a little about yourself. |
| A: | I'm from Maryland and now live in Pennsylvania. I'm a second-generation builder. New home communities and Warehouses mostly. Collecting and appreciating comic art is a bit more enjoyable than grading roads and moving dirt day in and day out. This hobby gives me and my family something fun to do together. We love the hunt (so to speak). |
| Q: | How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start? |
| A: | I was flipping through old comic books before I could even read them. I loved the art, and I would sit at our dining room table and draw all the pictures I saw, all day, every day. Later My father and grandfather introduced me to estate sales and as we were sifting through the goods on display, I stumbled onto original comic book art for the first time in person and was immediately taken in by it. After that I was a newly minted full-fledged comic art enthusiast. I bought my first piece in the early 90's at an estate sale. It was an early George Mcmanus Sunday page from the turn of the century (I still have it). I've been collecting, buying and selling here and there ever since. |
| Q: | How do you display/store your collection at home? |
| A: | The pages are stored in books on acid free archival paper and sleeves. The books are then placed in a large steel sliding drawer document safe under lock and key. A few are. framed. |
| Q: | What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions? |
| A: | Art by: Dave Cockrum Al Williamson fantasy or sci-fi Frank miller Wally Wood Jack Kirby Frank Frazetta Neal Adams Too many to list! |
