Description

A former U.S. Marine, cartoonist Don Sherwood served for two years as an assistant to George Wunder on the Milton Caniff-created syndicated newspaper comic strip TERRY AND THE PIRATES. This inspired Sherwood to create his own comic strip in 1963, DAN FLAGG, which was set in the Marine Corps. After the strip folded in 1970, Sherwood switched his attention to the funnybook field, primarily working for Charlton Comics on such titles as THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY, DAVID CASSIDY, THE PHANTOM and JUNGLE JIM (which featured "Dan Flagg" as a back-up feature). He also did production work for Hanna-Barbera Productions and Columbia Pictures. In 1975, Sherwood collaborated with ABC's Bill Owen on the syndicated newspaper panel feature RETURN WITH US TO… In 1981, he wrote and drew the SERGEANT PRESTON OF THE YUKON comic strip, followed by an eight-year stint on THE FLINTSTONES comic strip. Next, Sherwood produced the Sunday comics page feature DICK CLARK'S ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER. He's also done work for the Roy Rogers Museum and the National Broadcasters Hall Of Fame
