From May 23, 2011: For those who are a bit puzzled . . . after the big Marvel Vs. DC event in the mid-90s, both companies put out miniseries featuring characters from both universes . . . and in the final issues, new characters got created. In the case of Unlimited Access, Access (the POV character and walking plot device) got to smoosh together old-school Avengers and Justice Leaguers, as well as the electric blue Superman and young DC heroes. Captain America Jr. was the result of combining Captain America and Captain Marvel Junior. His alter ego is frail Freddy Rogers, who got his powers from shouting "UNCLE SAM!" The abilities he brought up during the issue were the wisdom of Lincoln, the strategy of Eisenhower, and the trickery of Nixon. In his review of Unlimited Access #4, Dave Van Domelin suggested that Cap Jr's powers would also include "[the] Strength of the Union . . . Compassion of Carter . . . . . . Powers of the States, Oratory of Adams [and the] Doctrine of Madison." (He might have meant Monroe in that last one.) July 1: In case you're wondering . . . yes, I got a Super Solider (blonde Clark Kent in Cap's uni and wielding a familiar S-shield) comic handy for upcoming signings/conventions. And yes, I am a geek. But if you're reading this . . . odds are you're a geek as well.
