Pretty fun strip that has humor and a hard truth to that kids also deal with poverty. Indeed, Marcus. I had not even been aware of the existence of the series it belongs to before finding it up for auction, but I fell in love with exactly what you mentioned in your comment and I felt I had to nab it if at all possible. |

Bravo! To have met Hugo Pratt would have been a memorable experience and to take back a souvenir like this is even more special. I'd love to hear about your interaction and impressions of the artist. Thanks, Jeff! I treasure that little moment. I was a kid and my Dad used to bring me to Lucca Comics - he taught me how one could go to comic book artists and ask them for a souvenir sketch and, back then, Comic Cons were not the mass phenomenon they now have become, so you actually could walk up to a legend such as Hugo Pratt was and just plain ask him a drawing without having to endure a 2 hours line, or him being instantly mobbed by fans. I believe it was my father who pointed me to Pratt - I seem to remember he was chatting with people his age, in piazza Napoleone, under one of the big trees. He drew this Corto Maltese for me on the back of a page from Lucca's event guide - they were colored cardboard and I have quite a few drawings made at the time on that format by artists of the likes of Karel Thole, Al Williamson and a few more. All I remember was he looked BIG, and looked at me with some tenderness after giving me the drawing he'd just made for me. |

L'indomani, all'alba (La Schiava?) Owner: Alberto Farina Comment posted on 1/12/2015

It's effectively a page from La Schiava, number 22. The original italian title is "Vento di terra selgagge " (Wind from the wild country) and in France it was published by Elvifrance in the number 128 of the Série Jaune under the name "Vent sauvage" (Wild wind). Thank you! Great news! Do you have the original story? I have another page by Del Mestre and I can only assume it's from the same episode... here's the link, in case you can spare another few minutes... http://www.comicartfans.com/my/SketchbookPieceDetail.asp?Loc=G&Piece=1176461 |

I'm a HUGE fan of the NO MAN'S LAND arc which IMO was fantastic through and through. Still, the couple of issues which guest-starred Superman were a highlight. Very cool page ! Thank you! Tell you the truth, I have never actually read that story - I just saw the page on eBay and loved the way it was composed, and what I assume is Batman's presence in the top-left frame. I guess I'll have to look the story up so I can share your enthusiasm about it! :-) |
