Inker on this is George Klein, not Curt Swan. Also noticing that this cover shows the original "No. 9" stat, as it was originally going to be Superman Annual #9, rather than 80-Page Giant #1.
Nice page. This is from the story where Jules Feiffer wrote the villain to be Hitler but Eisner changed him to a South American dictator after Wood drew it. You can see on this page where they cut out "Fuhrer" and changed it to "Leader'. Too soon after the war for "Hitler is alive" stories, I guess.
Thanks Bill!. It turns out that here on CAF, one user has the unpublished alternate version of the cover, and another user has the rough payout concept by Infantino. It's neat to see the full evolution of this through three different versions! I added the other two into "Additional Images".
Geez Ray, you've got some nice Swan pieces already, and it looks like you have some extra Frazetta, Williamson, and Raymond art you don't need!
Thanks - I've got a lot of similar art I plan to post in the coming weeks. Some, like the Kirby page, I've held since the 70's.
