You know me, mate! My request was a bulky Bruce Batman. Actually, I had asked for some kind of reminder to the Scottish connection GN, but I'm more than happy with the result!
I loved his take on the character in the Scottish connection and JLA Earth2 GNs. In Batman and Robin he showed his mastery in the storytelling! Superman next, btw!
I'm so happy this masterpiece entered your collection, as I had a minor role in his creation! Wonderful cover! Congrats!
He said that. Instead of getting quicker, he's becoming more obsessive and precise with age.
Jim put some serious effort in this one! It's a perfect piece in every inch! Congrats!
I've thought si many times about purchasing this page myself! Im
hapoy it ended in a great home! Wonderful piece!
He's stunning and I'm very happy he is going back to traditional art!
My pleasure. To my knowledge, this is the only actual pencils of that cover, as the final version should be inks over 11x17 bluelines and this is the reason why it is so detailed.
The hair is mainly Scott. He told me it's the first homework they give to art students, as they can understand how good they are based on hair rendering. Well, Scott is definitely one of the best around!
Wonderful analysis, as for the visual storytelling. Furthermore, as for the plot, remembering his own trauma helps Bruce in solving the case. Great page 360*.
I went with Janson on the inks to have the '90 vibe and I did not regret it.
Agreed. Byrne was not bad, too, LOL! As for the new artists, I really like Larraz.
I can't forget the Jim Lee Magneto version he gave us in X-men #1 and #2. So powerful and menacing even without his helmet! I think this would have been great with some Kirby crackles or magneto spheres on the bg, but im happy nonethless and maybe I'll have the chance to have them added in the future.
Thanks. I asked Scott Williams to ink this, too, but he said it was already cool as is and there's no room for him to work. Fair enough, even if I always think there's some room for Scott's inks!
Totally agree! This is why I waited 14 years and a rare stars' alignment to have it inked
I've been very lucky to snag both pencil pages from his dealer and both inks from the same collector later on!
Thanks Mark! Waiting for the right chance to have it inked by Jimmy Palmiotti!
I checked all the Hush pages and I think this one would easily enter the top 30 pages from that run. It's definitely a good Batman in Superman page! :)
Thanks a lot, Nash! The lights and details are fabtastic in real life.
He really is! Sharing is a good part of the hobby. Thank you for your comment!
I agree. And this pictuere honestly doesn't make justice to the piece, but I'm too lazy to remove it form the profolio and scan it...
It has all I was looking for. Old style Mignola, Excalibur (no one knew yet, at that time), a killed monster with some blood!
Thanks Gal! He spent a fair amount of hours drawing this piece, I would say a couple at least, that's why the quality is so high! As I said in the description, he is extremely nice and helpful. The best thing is I had the chance to chat with him while he was drawing it!
Grazie Alberto! Uno dei pochi autori moderni completi, secondo me.
