They're both on the finished cover! It's not been solicited yet but will be soon
We'll still force our little book in front of people one way or the other at that show!
In some ways, it'll be a new read, since we changed some things, moved some things, re-lettered things, and added some new pages and sequences, too...
Well, as Darren likes to say, "Only YOU can help you." Of course, Darren ended up in a bad place by the end of issue 1 so be cautious taking his advice...
I'm definitely not actively looking to sell it but happy to discuss if you want to drop me a line. ryall.syz@gmail.com
It launches in July right before San Diego Comic-Con so I would love to see that!
I do love that sort of thing--I use it whenever I can in comics. But in this case, all praise to Scott Morse, that was his innovation. He definitely made the script work even better the way he brought it all to visual life.
Huh--I can see that now in the ink lines on some of the main figures, and overall, he did a nice job, but I really dislike what he did with Jack's face.
If ever there's a part of the King's pencils you should be very faithful, it's when he draws himself...
Such a great piece. Do you know who inked it? The final cover sure took some liberties with Jack's pencils on Jack himself, whose face looks much better in the original art.
Byrne's FF is totally m sweet spot but I basically like all of it up til about issue 300.
Came in at the first Perez era so Buckler, Perez, and Pollard runs are all good in my eyes, as well as the earlier Lee/Kirby and then Buscema eras, too, of course.
Never quite grokked the Moench/Sienkiewicz stuff, although the art was interesting. And DeFalco/Ryan never happened, y'ask me...
You’re right—I’m not sure they didn’t do that.
These'll officially go up for sale tomorrow 1/29 through @IDWLimited, too.
It's not an Artist's Edition, it'll be for our Artist Select series -- ull color stories hand-picked by the artist and available as either a signed edition or deluxe edition with hand-drawn sketch included in a separate portfolio case.
Brand-new, but not an Artist's Edition. An Artist's Select book, similar to the recent Layton Iron Man. Full color stories, hand-picked by JB and available (soon) as a signed edition or a deluxe version with a hand-drawn art piece.
It should go live in a week or two--they're still nailing down the last-minute details. But the books are done and ready to go.
Most of the art JB did are headshots so I bought this one so the ones offered to everyone else were more uniform.
Hmm, not sure how I missed that before but yeah, totally wrong. Thanks for pointing it out--it's now moved to Sold/Traded.
I agree on that... hope we can do more Byrne AEs, both Marvel (X-Men and Alpha Flight, or even Namor...) and DC (this, Man of Steel/Superman/Action) but we'll see.
I always loved panel 3, too -- Reed's leg stretched out awkwardly around the crowd, and Johnny lying there in that ridiculous cowboy outfit. Really one of my favorite FF issues of all time, Perez and Sinnott just killed on this, 165 and 167, after that mildly unfortunate Vinnie Coletta diversion in 166.
Drew's the best. Got more of his stuff to post soon, too, pages from The Colonized and other things.
Yeah, Sal nailed it. I've got more of his stuff to post soon, too, including another new piece he did in January '15.
